Heritage Movement Archive

Movement as Communication

Capturing anthropological movement documents the evolution of cultural expressions over time. By recording traditional dances, gestures, and physical practices, we can trace how these movements have evolved across generations. This historical perspective enriches our understanding of cultural identity and also helps ensure that future generations can access and learn from these traditions.

The Heritage Movement Archive initiative leverages advanced motion capture tools to accurately record these culturally significant movements. This technology enables us to create detailed digital representations, making heritage accessible in innovative ways.

Generational Wealth in Motion - A Heritage Movement Archive

For millennia, cultures around the world have expressed their identity through movement; from traditional dance and ceremony to the innovation and use of tools and techniques that evolved from the Stone Age forward.

The world of modern technology offers the ability to record and create a comprehensive digital archive of anthropological movements by recording traditional dances, gestures, and physical practices. We can trace how these movements have evolved across generations and this historical perspective enriches our understanding of cultural identity and helps ensure that future generations can access and learn from these traditions.

This initiative aims to create the largest digital archive of motion capture from Indigenous and non-Indigenous cultural traditions around the world. This motion archive will be managed and licenced for new creators through a trauma informed, cooperatively developed business model that respects cultural and intellectual property rights with equitable compensation to all stakeholders.
